Swing Check Valve

A swing check valve typically features a globe-style body with a hinged disc designed to halt reverse flow. The valve seat is commonly configured in either an angled or straight-through full-ported design. ACEV Flow Control provides a diverse range of swing check valves tailored for various applications, encompassing water, steam, oil, nitric acid, acetic acid, solid oxidizing media, and other corrosive substances.
The swing check valve comprises a body, seat, and disc connected via a hinge. When the flow reaches a specific rate, the disc rotates to a horizontal position, facilitating forward flow. Upon cessation of flow, the disc returns to its seated position to prevent backflow.
Swing check valve operation primarily relies on gravity (disc weight) and reverse flow. The pivot point of the swing check is positioned outside the disc's periphery, and the valve's closing force intensifies with increasing flow velocity and head pressure. To mitigate disc slamming and reduce hydraulic shocks, an external hinge arm, equipped with either a lever weight or an adjustable spring, is available.
Swing check valves can be broadly classified into two major types: top-hinged and tilting disc. Both types can further be divided based on their body construction—either forged or cast. Despite sharing similar operational procedures, the primary distinction lies in the deployment mechanism of the valve disc.
Forged swing check valves are typically smaller, usually not exceeding 4" in size. Conversely, cast swing check valves are more common for larger sizes, starting from 2" and upwards. ACEV Flow Control has the capability to manufacture swing check valves with a maximum size of 48".

Forged Swing Check Valve

The Swing Check Valve employs a hinged sealing disc that swings freely to open and close, remaining open during forward flow and shutting tightly upon flow reversal.
ACEV's forged swing check valve boasts a compact design, with pressure-bearing components such as the body and cover being forged for strength.
ACEV's metal-seated, forged steel swing check valves excel in a variety of high-velocity applications, including refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, and oil industry processes, where corrosion, erosion, and precise flow control or backflow prevention are crucial.
For optimal performance, ACEV swing check valves should operate within a flow range that keeps the valve fully open but avoids excessive turbulence and pressure drop.

Cast Swing Check Valve

Check valves serve as vital backflow prevention devices, ensuring that fluids (both liquids and gases) do not reverse into critical process systems. ACEV swing check valves, capable of horizontal or vertical, upward flow installations, offer minimal flow resistance and excel in low-velocity applications.
ACEV Flow Control offers cast carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy swing check valves ranging from 2" to 48", with ANSI pressure classes spanning from 150# to 2500#. Constructed from materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy 20, and specialized alloys, these valves adhere to API 594 Type B, ISO 15761, and BS 1868 standards. Optional features include NACE compliance and Teflon or Graphite gaskets.
Ideal for installations in refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants, oil and gas facilities, and other environments prone to corrosion and erosion, ACEV cast steel swing check valves effectively prevent backflow.

Pressure Seal Swing Check
Valve
ACEV pressure seal swing check valves are specialized high-pressure devices tailored for power and refining applications. They excel in handling steam and water at high flow velocities. Featuring a self-aligning disc-hinge assembly and a tapered seat ring, these valves ensure sealing during no-flow conditions or flow reversals. Their unique design allows flow in one direction only, safeguarding critical plant equipment and minimizing backflow during disc seating.
Compared to other check valve types, pressure seal check valves offer reduced pressure drop, making them ideal for protecting pumps and similar equipment. The internally hung disc "hinge assembly" eliminates body wall penetrations, thus preventing potential leaks from the pressure boundary area. The valve port design maximizes disc opening, further minimizing pressure drop and delivering exceptional flow performance (Cv).
Suitable for horizontal installations with a cap vertical or vertical installations with upward flow, ACEV pressure seal swing check valves provide robust and reliable performance in diverse applications.
